Is there a differance between a detriot locker and Posi?

Yes there is. Simply, in a locker the axles are locked together until ther is enough torque differential between the two axles (such as in a turn) to unlock the axles. In a posi the axles are held together by the pressure of the preloaded clutch discs. Once this preload is exceed, (such as in a turn) the clutches slip. I've used both. I like the locker better, but it does give off some noise when it unlocks. The posi is quieter and requires a limited slip additive, where as the locker does not.

Yeah, the term locker refers to the spring loaded "dogs" that ratchet in a turn, have great grip and are noisy, a normal posi mkes a better street unit. I've used both also.
