Locking drum brakes
hey I have an 87 chevy caprice with rear drum brakes. for the first 5 minutes I drive the car the brakes will lock up with the slightest touch of the brake pedal but after that they get easier. I really dont want to get rear ended, would replacing the old drums with brand new ones solve my problem?

You could have either a axle seal leaking a little or a wheel cylinder leaking a little and your shoes are a little wet the first few applications then it drys off somewhat and they are OK untill you let the car sit again. If thats the case it will only get worse. Pull your drums off and see if you can see any signs of something leaking slightly.
