Lokar Shifter

I just got a car that came with 2 Lokar Shift Knobs. The set screws were taken out of the knobs. On Lokars instructions it says "Do not change the settings of these shift knob set screws" Why and how do I get these set except by guesswork?

since Lokar offers different shift lever heights and knobs , I would think there are some instructions or a pdf file some where to guide a person to perform the swap & adjustment.

The Lokar knobs that I have messed with have a pushbutton in the center, The set screw in the main body of the knob is used to engage a slot in the pushbutton, so it won't rotate or pop out. The knob itself is locked onto the shifter "stick" with a locknut.

Set the screw so the pushbutton moves freely. IIRC It is a special setscrew, with a turned down end, so don't lose it.

Later, mikey

Mikey is correct, plus how far you thread the knob onto the shifter shaft determines how well or not so well the detents are engaged. I have had the knob off my Lokar shifter many times with no ill affect,
