Lokar Throttle Cable Installation

In regards to the Lokar throttle cable assembly, I know I will need to drill a hole through my firewall so I can hook up the cable to the gas petal assembly and out to the Carburetor.

My question is: do I cut the cable where it is knotted (the end that attaches to the gas petal) and slip off the hardware off the cable so I can thread the cable through the firewall then re-tie a new knot? Afterwards I would reconstruct the hardware back in order (like threading SHISH-KABOB) then tighten the screw so it stable in the firewall.

I've installed a few of those cables and never saw a knot...

The ones I used had a sweged steel end, shaped like a ball.

The allen head screw is loosened, then the cable removed from the carb connector end of the cable end. That will alow you to un shish-ke-bab the cable from all of the housings, brackets ,etc.

Then mount the bracket to your carb baseplate, mount your pedal, install the adjustable hexagonal end in your bracket, and the plain nut/through ferrule thing in the firewall. Trim the cable housing to fit in these ends with no kinks or severe bends, allowing enough extra housing for movement in the motor.

Thread the cable through all of that shish-ke-bab starting from the pedal end. I usually trim the cable so that when it is installed, full pedal depression will result in full throttle opening.

Don't make your cable too short. yer car won't idle well if you do.

Thanks for the info. I found the allen head screw, whew my eyes are getting bad. Definitely need to use my reading glasses when wrenching on the ole Chevelle.
