That's certainly another viable option, particularly if I'm not totally blow away with a specific plan for redoing the car.

The London Taxi has a strange "rarity factor". While there were only about 2,000 of this year's model produced...the car was manufactured for 39 years with nearly the exact same body. So actually there were slightly more than 40,000 look-a-likes made. Clearly only a small fraction of those are in the states, but my guess is if you are willing to shop internationally, they are not all that rare. I've seen prices ranging from 8-15K...but those look like nice, clean, fully functional automobiles.

It would be different over here. It would get noticed. I can hear it now, "What the heck is it?"

When completed it may have resale value to someone from the UK, classics and rods are sold and shipped over there quite frequently.

Especially at today's exchange rates - and there is a big street rod contingent there - tho I don't know where!!! I've been there many times and will be going again in ~2 weeks and have yet to see one on the road. :eek

But then - gas is ~$8/gallon for premium in the UK

Maybe with some mini cooper front and rear lights it would start a new trend?

Sleeper and leave the steering alone. This was on the hotrod power tour this year. Not sure what the car is (56 chevy?), but had huge amounts of attention because of the right drive. Outside it was just a yellow car.

That's IT Brian. Hot rod this thing but keep the body and steering completely original. Then sell it to a rural mail carrier. Not only can they deliver the mail in record time...they will always be on the same side as the mail boxes.

theres a few taxi,s that have been rodded over here.
this pro street ones local to me.
no real resale value over here as its a quirky car and not one everyone wants.
keeping it right hand drive with either a v6 or v8 isnt a problem either.
