What parts go into the selling of an engine called?:?:
Long block
Short Block
Fitted Block
Replacement block

Long block: Usually a short block with heads, sometimes could include an intake manifold.

Short Block: block. crank, pistons, rings, bearings, may or may not include a camshaft.

Fitted block: Bare block with just pistons and rings. No crank, rods or camashaft included.

Alternator brackets
Oil Pan
Fuel Pump
Pulleys
All the above mentionned parts are 'original engine' pieces, would they also be included in the "long block" or are they extras?

Reason I am asking is, I have a numbers and dated and correct suffix coded engine that is coming up 4 sale in Mar. or Apr. and have it with all the above minus the numbers correct intake carb. and distributor..

Would prefer not to appear to be a "buffoon" over-pricing the unit number 1, and secondly, don't want to call it a long block if it in fact might at the time of selling be a short block..

The terminology varies a little on each. A long block would in my mind have the most variability and certainly could contain water pump, timing cover and such, but I have seen engines marketed as long blocks that did not have those items. When you decide to sell your engine just list what is included and I think you will be fine. An engine containing all you listed would fall into the "complete engine" category.
