Long time listener, first time caller!

This is my first time using a bulletin board so be gentle. I am also rebuilding a car for the first time. A 1970 Cadillac Coupe deVille. My brother-in-law owns a 1961 Caddy and talked me into hot-rodding mine. Lots of fun, lots of mistakes (nothing expensive, yet) but I'm a quick learner. I am even going to try and paint the car myself. I'm looking forward to getting some good info and possibly helping others.

Thanks Pinto_Guy. I'm finding out that alot of the places that deal exclusively with Caddies are expensive as hell. E-Bay has proven the most friendly with my wallet and the wifes' nerves.

Yes, If you want to get exotic they can be a bit hard on the wallet. Thats the beauty of the Caddy. Just a stock rebuild with a touch hotter cam will get you 500+lbs of torque and over 400 ponies. Pick A Part is your friend! Lots of Caddy info here also http://www.hwforums.com/2089/

You are not alone here...

Lots of us are Cadillac freaks. Just some are too afraid to admit it...

I currently have 2 Caddy-motored beasts in the driveway, and 2 motors sitting in the garage. One with the shortblock together except for cam/lifters, the other torn down and waiting.

Seems the big-cube bug has been biting rather fiercely lately...

I know exactly what you mean about the big block bug. I tried to order a set of brand new heads through Checker who had them on computer but their suppliers would not sell just the heads. You have to buy the whole motor. Long story, short, it turned out to be cheaper to have my heads re-built. Like I said this is my first project car. Pic-a-part here in Vegas is slim on parts cause all the gang-bangers want Caddys to put those stupid ***** 13 inch rims on. I get some funny looks when I roll by and all you hear is a dual exhausted, flowmastered Caddy.

There are two old caddy's within a half a mile of me. One just down the street. One is about a 54 at a guess and the other is an early 60's maybe, but it's a limo. Could make a cool party rod. If any one wants more info or pics let me know. I'll be glad to gfet them for you. Both are for sale.

My golly!
Have I been asleep that long?
I admit it's summer and I don't get on here as much as I use to.Too busy with new twin grand daughters and driving around in my old 38 and tooling around on my ZN 1300 Voyager. I just won best of show last week at a church swap meet. SWEEET!!!
Actually that caddie is still there. I'm not sure what's in it. The womanwho owns it thinks it worth asmall fortune. She says it's built up? What ever that means to her. I've not looked under the hood. THe last time I talked to her I believe she wanted $2,000 for it.
Does that help you any?
