looking for 350 information

i bought a 350 engine and can't figure out the engine code stamping numbers the # is k0679800 there is no suffix information for this number. the engine # at the back drivers side is 3970010. i want to find out what it is out of, the year and the horsepower. any help would be great.

Casting number indicates 69-80 ,2 or 4 bolt mains.

i think it is a targetmaster engine does anybody know.

My smallblock parts interchange manuel has the Target Master at casting number 10066036.

Same thing at Mortec.

there is no vin under the engine code other.and the pad it is written on is smaller than i've seen on web sites.

From the two books that I have it is a 1971-72 LT1 350. You might want to read this thread also.

3970010 could also be a 327. 350 2 or 4 bolt main mostly in trucks but i got one out of a 77 monte carlo that was a 2 bolt 350

Also 3970010 was casting number for 302 69 Z-28 4 bolt.

What do you have for cylinder heads?

on cylinder heads i go by the last 3 digits and they 882 some truck motors had 624

76 cc chamber , 1.72/1.5 , 1.94/1.5 ,or 2.02/1.6 valves.

A lot of combinations possible.I think you probably have a basic 350 somewhere around 200 HP.

it runs great. i think i will put a cam and some headers on it to give it a little more power.
