looking to decode a vin # ford truck since 73

My buddy pulled an axle from a Ford truck which is of unknown model, guy told him something wrong. Anyway, after trying to find the numbers on the axle tubes and not having any luck he went and looked at the vin number of the truck.

he got a vin # that looks like

X265KCE8665

all he wants to know is what year the truck was, and go from there. any other info would be wonderful though

looked in the kb but only found up till 72 vin decoding

Anyway, thanks in advance, hopefully someone will be able to help him out

Fords typically have a tag on the rear axle on a pumpkin bolt or a rear cover bolt and that tells you evry thing about it, including year made, ratio, posi or not.... Sometimes the are covered in crud and overlooked, especially if you were checking the tubes, might look in that area and see if you don't find the tag..usually about 2 1/2" long and a 1/2" wide.
