Looking for a good machine shop.
I live around omaha, ne and I am wondering if anyone has had any good experiences with a machine shop in the area. Am willing to drive to Des Moines, St. louis, kansas city, maybe furthur for EXCELENT machine shop. I know that it is almost un-avoidable but if the guys there are nice and not age-ist it would be very helpful. Looking to do a full blueprint on my motor and I wont settle for "work done for a stupid kid" as I have been researching engines and blueprinting for a few years. Just wanted to do a little machine shop shopping.
Thanks.Oh yes, the motor will most likely be a 340 Chrysler. |

The best local specialty shops I have found has been by asking for referrals from other businesspeople in related trades.
I started with the mechanics at the shop that have done my familys general auto repairs for the past 15 years to find a machine shop. I usually ask "Who would you go to if you had X to do to your personal car?" Take a small job at first to see how the work and how they treat you. If someone does give you a hard time because of your age, politely defend yourself with facts. They usually back off and acknowlege a little respect for standing up for yourself. |
