In my quest to clean up this cars previous owners mess, I am looking for a bulkhead type fitting (or any other suggestions),
to redo the heater hoses where they go through the firewall.
I don't like how they rub, look etc.
I am also going to remove the A/C hoses for now.
It is more about trying to seal up the car a little better, so it's not so loud inside for the wife.
Well....... I was kinda hoping hopping for a little more " I built this thingy" or "I found this a the local hardware/feed store"
And a little less "look what I bought on ebay"
Not sure of your fabrication skills or type of tools you own. However I would trim up an aluminum plate kind of what you see in the pics. I first would make a template out of poster board or something to get better dimensions of what you need. Bore you holes as needed contingent upon the bulkhead fittings you are going to use. If it were mine, it would be all AN fittings and braided line $$. I have boxes full of fittings and lines from previous projects. It possibly would be cheaper and not buy the bulkhead fittings and just chop some AN fittings on the lathe then TIG weld them to the plate. Just make the back side of the fittings have some sort of barb for your heater set up but would need the real AN bulkhead for the AC set up. I could make one of these in an afternoon on my Bridgeport, lathe and TIG machine. But as others were stating, it probably will be cheaper to buy a kit. I make most of my stuff, I know it is not cost prohibitive but have more time than paying the fancy prices of this hot rod stuff. Plus, when people ask you were you got it and say you made it, which is cool.
Mcmaster Carr has bulkhead fittings in std pipe size which may work for you..
