Solid or hydraulic roller cam and lifters? Just wondering if you're getting valve float above 6300rpms.

Could be valve float, what are the spring specs of what you are using??

Give us a rundown on the fuel system, everything from tank/cell to carb, including line size, pickup size, and filters.

When you say it wont pull over 6300rpm is that when you shift or does it flatten out on the big end? Is your carb a vac secondary? If so your car is too light with your gear and convertor you could actually be really lean.

Ive had problems with a similar issue, it was weak valve springs. Although not enough fuel psi at that high of rpm could cause it. Youll also think im crazy but ive had a convertor go to crap and it wouldnt let the motor go over 6,000 we thought it was in the motor but it was the converter. So do does pull really good to 6300 then it just wont go past that untill you shift will it actaully hold its self there?

Locked out timing won't cause this. Sounds more like valvesprings or fuel pressure. If you don't have a fuel gauge you can read while driving, you could rig up a temporary fuel pressure guage and tape it to the windshield to see if pressure falls at the time the engine goes flat. Don't bring a fuel gauge inside the car, too dangerous.

I'd want to know if the springs were correct for the cam - seat pressure, open pressure, installed height?? Single spring, or double?? Diameter??

New engine, or been together for a while?? If together a while, ever been over revved in the past??
