Looking at new heads

I reciently completed a basic rebuild of my 350 with some goodies, and am now looking at replacing the heads.
Here's the current build.
79 350 with stock bottom end, pistons, and heads.
Edelbrock Performer Plus cam kit
2101 Performer intake
1405 carb
Cheap LT headers into dual exaust with turbo mufflers

The truck is running great, and I'm enjoying the power increase, but I don't know how much I'm leaving on the table with the stock heads and valves.

I had planned to do the heads with the original build, but ran out of budget before I got to them. Of course we know how well the "budget" goes.

As you've probably noticed, I've done Edelbrock's basic package, and I'm now looking at their 60909 heads.
I see that it says I'll need to replace my pushrods and/or rocker arms.
My question is, what pushrods and rockers do I need? Please keep in mind that I'm on a pretty tight budget.

These heads require you use a +.100" push rod. You will need a head bolt kit with head bolt washers (for aluminum heads) too.

You can do up a set of 416 heads for about 1/2 the price.
The #416 305 heads will need porting and larger 1.94x 1.60 valves for max effect.
The air flow and compression ratio will be higher resulting in more power and torque compared to the stock low cr smoggers.
Do all the hand porting your self, then get a good machine shop to do the machining (valve job) and finish them. Get a complete cost estimate first.
New Z28 style stock springs is all you need. Drill and roll pin the rocker studs. With the edlebrock performer cam use a 1.6 rocker arm on the intake side for max perf.

If you don't bother to port them keep you expectations modest.

Good stock type rockers and pushrods are fine.

You should be able to finish these heads for $500.

You should have bought vortecs for this motor. Thats another option.

Thanks for the info.

So, with the +100 pushrods, I can use my stock rockers?

I selected these heads to compliment what I already have while minimizing complications. Making 305 head work well on my engine is both beyond my experience, and my desire at this point.

Ok, after some more research, Edelbrock recomends their 9629 pushrods for use with stock rockers. At $44 a set, I think I'll stick with their recomendation.
