C-6 trans was not produced in 1962.

Has the trans in the 62 Ford car been changed? if not , it would be a cruise-o-matic trans.... probably a medium case cruise-O.

These trans had cast iron main case ,a removable bell housings usually aluminum material and an aluminum tail housing.

Crosley is correct (and I'm not surprised by that ) although it was likely marketed at the time as a "Ford-O-Matic"

Wikipedia has the evolutionary history of the Ford-O-Matic. Note that it "Ford-O-Matic" could have been a 2-speed for a while as well. Henry sure could be the "king of confusing terms", couldn't he?

Wikipedia actually has the complete list of all Ford Transmissions

The Crankshaft Coalition has some more information as well

Have looked all over the place and can't find the rebuild kit for a 62 fairlane sports coupe, it was the Ford-o-matic tranny, 2 speed. What do you know about how to get parts? Thanks, doug
