Thanks Ive been looking at that it does look a little smaller (the guts and mounting plate) than the others the aplications for that are the 70-81 firebird and 73-81 camaro. I guess ill have to do some more research

I have been looking for a rachet shifter for my 74 Vette I'm glad I saw your post as I was ready to order the B&m Mega shifter. I will look around and see if I can find a better solution. If you find one that will work please let me know and I will do the same. Would having the stick shortened be a viable solution? Or is the shifter body just to high?

Good Luck Virgil

I just stopped by the auto parts store and looking in there b&m book it shows the height of the shifters. The B&M Hammer is 10.07 inches high compared to the mega shifters 12.70 inchs would two 1/2 inches shorter work?

Good Luck Virgil

2 inches shorter wouldent be bad.. The problem i ran into was it was to long With the back right bolt installed, (the only one that lined up and put it close to the stock position.) The front of the shifter where the cable comes in was where the defrost controls mounted. so you could only have one or the other I assume yours is set up the same. If that makes any sense..man i wish i took a picture
Now does that 12.70 Inches include the handle, I know they make diferent lengths or was that just the shifter mechinism? Ill go take some measurements and see what i can come up with
I was also looking at the install files on the B&M site for each shifter and the quicksilver Internals (not the console quicksilver) Looked visibly smaller but they dont have dimentions I was just going by the picture See if you can get ahold of that book and write down all the dimentions..then we'll brainstorm..But ill definately keep an eye on this post and let you know what i find..Boy i hope this post makes sense

Took some measurements and a picture..lets see if i can get it loaded

We'll try that
The shifter where it sits straight up in neutral is 7-1/2 inches If you look carefully where the shifter pivots it is sunk down into the tranny tunnel (another problem) I measured it from the bolts to the top of the shifter
From the aft muont bolts to the Defrost controls is 7 inches, the shifters i tried were almost an inch past the forward mount bolts its kind of decieving but the bolts are under the defrost controls
The width is 7 inches not a problem there If the shifter didnt make that U shape in the middle and wasnt over 7 inches long we would be golden.

But heres a thought you cant see it but on the console cover to the right of the defrost is an ashtray ..maybe i could move the defrost controls over there and make the ashtray disappear Hope the photo loaded

I dont know if B&M ever changed its rachet shifters (mega shifter) but what a pile of doodoo. At least they were in the 90's. Ill never buy one again. They have so many working parts they dont last long. I went through 2... they last about 6 months then its nothing but trouble.
