Does anyone know a source for short runs of color coded wiring? I need about 12' of 18 ga in yellow with blue stripe and yellow with white stripe.

www.waytek.com
Sells wire by the foot in many colors. For small quantities you can add the tracer with colored markers.

My bad.
Its www.waytekwire.com
And they do have a minimum quantity of 100 ft for each color, size etc.
Sorry to mislead.
Also, www.wiringproducts.com sells small quantities of auto wire.

Unfortunately both Waytek and wiringproducts.com only offer solid-color wires. I'm worried that marker tracer stripes wouldn't hold up (and how do I put a white stripe on yellow wire with a marker?).

My only other alternative is to strip the wiring out of a harness at the junkyard, but a 12" run of wire is going to be a bear to pull!

I'd take a piece of wood drill a wire size hole all the way thru it so the wire could be pulled thru, at the top 90 degrees from the hole drill another hole so a sharpee or a paint marker or one of those paint touch up pens could be inserted into the top and the tip just touches the wire...... as you pull the wire thru the paint marker would put a nice stripe on it.

The only place I know of to get striped wire in small quantities is: YnZ.

For what it's worth, they also make some of the best factory reproduction wiring harnesses available.

Unfortunately, they don't sell wire smaller than 16 gauge, nor do they sell Yellow/Blue or Yellow/White. So this may be worthless information for you, Buck, but maybe it will be helpful to someone else reading this thread.

Making a white stripe on a yellow wire would be difficult.....I wonder if anyone makes a vinyl dye marker similar to a paint marker. If so, that would be the ticket.

Good luck....
