looking for stock-type snorkel air cleaner to fit 1955 Chevy

I want to get away from the open type air cleaner during the summer. It feeds the engine super heated air in summer, which hurts power and economy. Problem is my Bel Air only has enough clearance between the center of the Qjet and the wiper motor to just fit one of these open style 14 inch cleaners. Since there are no junk yards here in Germany for me to go looking through I need some help.

What stock air cleaner with snorkel will fit on a Qjet and has a 14 inch outside diameter? I will add a fresh air duct from behind the grill area to the snorkel.

If someone could tell me what would fit I could get a friend in Canada to find one for me and mail it to me.

Thanks

Most of your 70s style GM air cleaners should be less than 14 in dia, although they are plenty ugly. Personally, I don't think you are going to gain anything from it......

Many late-'70s & early-'80s Chevy trucks used a 12"x3.5" element in the air cleaner. The housing lid on my '79 Suburban w/350 is 15-3/4" in diameter, with the lid overhanging the housing just a bit. The rear of the housing is inset slightly for distributor (HEI) clearance, and this might be useful to you if you could modify it so the side near the wiper motor is similarly inset. The snorkel is oval, about 6"x2".

Somewhere in a junkyard I saw an air filter housing that had the carb opening slightly off center, which also might be useful, but I don't remember what kind of vehicle it was on.
