Depends on what it is or isn't doing any longer. Wandering, bouncing, pulling to either side, clunks, wobbles, excessive wheel play...

When checking suspension components, jack the front end off the ground and try moving the tire back and forth and in and out (top and bottom) for play.
Check ball joints, while in the air (on jack stands of course), lift the tire to see if there's up and down loose play. |
