Loose steering

the steering on my 73 nova has become a little loose, I wanted to know if anyone could walk me through checking out the steering box and adjustment if needed, and with where to go after that if that isnt the problem.

I'd start with the tie rod ends, center link, idler arm, etc. and make sure those are good first them work my way back to the box. Those will wear out a few times over before the steering box will. Tires can make a difference too, old hard tires or improper inflation will make a car feel loose in the front.
