Doc here,

Do you MEAN "205" ??

Did you put the heat sink compound on the new module? heat will kill it right off if you skipped that step, and under load it will fail. Have it tested again..freebie at auto zombie..and New compound when installing it..those ALSO have a high failure rate, like 1 in 3 or 5 RIGHT out of the box..

The coil May be failing under load also..

Test the coil with your DVOM, set to Ohms, R X 1 Scale, Calibrated to "000". Probes on the Batt and Tach Terminals.

Measure the primary, It should read LESS than an OHM, but MORE than 000. If not toss it it bad or going to be bad..

NEXT , test the Secondary, set your scale to R X 20K or higher..probes to the carbon rotor pickup, and the batt terminal.

It should read between 6000 and 31,000 OHMS..If not toss it..

ALSO, keep in mind, this is a "Static" test..If the coil has windings breaking down (internal arc over due to the insulating paint flaking off) It may not show on an ohm check..you'd need a scope for that, so If you suspect it replace it with a Known good one.

Doc

loss of power

thanks for the quick reply. yes i put heat sink on. My distributor is not HEI.THE coil was checked and tried a different one and had same results. It seems every time i play with timing it changes a little bit. Car seems to run good for 2 or 3 minutes and then starts to cough.
