lost speedometer cable
me and my dad took a 350and a 700 r4 out of a chevy 1/4 ton and put it in a 88 chevy 3500 replacing a454 and turbo 400 trans, ever thing is working fine except we cant find the speeometer cable to hook to the trasn tried following it out of fire wall but still no use, was it elect wired to a cable/ just seam lost/ :embarrass
I'm not sure when they switched to electric speedo. Have a look at the 400 trans you pulled out. At the rear, drivers side of the trans you will find either the screw attachment for the cable or a sender with an electrical plug on it. That will tell you if you have a cable. Otherwise look at the back of your speedo, if you lost the cable there will be a spot for the cable to click into. Happy hunting. You can convert your cable drive trans to electric speedo by removing the rear tailshaft cover and swapping the gear for a sender unit, or with an aftermarket adapter.
