Low Mount Alt.

Not sure if this would be here or under "engine". I am considering mounting my alternator on the low/left side of my sbc as later it will have a blower setup and I'd like to create a bit more room up top. I see there are several mounts so it's probably a matter of just figuring which will fit, etc, mechanically. My question is, anyone having trouble with this setup? Mine is an open engine compartment (33 Ply). Was just wondering about water spray, debris, etc. Thanks, Bob.

If you want a low mount with a blower you will need a short waterpump and low mount alt kit for the short WP. This is what I have on my ride. I had to modify the mount a little anyway to clear my prostreet frame.

When it come to belts just go to your local auto parts store and get 4 belts in the range and return the 3 that don't fit. Says you a couple trips.

I also made a "mid mount" for the Sanden AC compressor. This puts it in the fender well out of sight. I have nothing showing over the valve covers. Easy access to the VC and blower. Plus it is very clean on top.

Don't wear long hair around the blower belt likewise loose clothing. Keep others away when tuning. Don't need their "help" anyway.

Bentwings; Thanks for the reply. I have the short wp and I just ordered the low mount kit. It will be a while before I'm ready for the blower stuff, (compiling BBC parts for build). Hope I can pick your brain & experience when I get ready to move on it? Bob
