Question Low on trany oil.... sliping trany?

you may have read on another one of my posts, that I had a problem with a slipping trany(a Chevy TH350). I just put a new engine in my car after about a year got it running and noticed a leak in the trany oil cooler line( I fixed it) and now my trany is even lower on oil.
Could the trany being low on oil about 1.5pints from what I can tell on the dipstick make it slip some at first. and then not be much of a problem once warmer??
I was thinking It would, But I'm not quite sure.

One other Question, My owners manual said to use Dextron ATF, I have some DextronIII fluid Can I use it or is it a diffrent type?

I would top off the fluid and see if it still reacts the same. DextronIII should be what you need. We only stock DextronIII/Mercon for G.M.'s and older Fords, Type F(really old Fords), MerconV for new Fords, And 7176 for Mopars.

once again Dmorris to the rescue with the trany questions, Thanks for the Info! I was thinking that Dextron III would just be a (I'll say Upgraded) kind of fluid.
