Low Vacuum the culpit?

I was at the track the other day to get a baseline in my Chevelle. I have low vacuum even with the cannister. I tried to use my line-loc but it could'nt hold (my last run, I couldn't foot brake the car at 3000 rpm so it inch forward causing me to redline).

Anyway, I could only muster 12.7. I had a decent 60 ft 1.79 and was going good to 1/8 (8.12) but the last 1/8 mile I lost at the top end. Do you think my tranny was slipping. My motor is over 500 hp with torque to match. Maybe the stall is too low (I have a 2800) for street manners. Maybe I should put in a 3500 converter.

Also I couldn't do a burn-out on the MT ET tires so that was a waste. Could of used my street tires instead.

Maybe a carb spacer would of helped my top end or a taller tower manifold but then my bottom end will die.

I didn't use my 200 dual shot as I still have to tune.

Any recommendations. I am shooting for 11.79 to get away from putting in roll bars. I didn't use my gear vendor (I use it for freeway use with it's overdrive). Come to think of it, the gear vendor was on auto. Do you think that may have affected the tranny?

Anyway, I am going to mount my street tires and determine if I can do a burn-out.

Could you give us some info about your combination? Engine size and mods, trans, gear ratio, etc.

It's a Speed-o-motive crate 383 stroker engine, rated at 425 hp. For more omph, The heads are 200cc Dart Iron Eagles machined and ported (done at a race engine machine shop), 4 inch bore/6 inch rods, valves2.02/1.6. SRP forged pistons 10.1; roller lifter; roller rockers; Crane mechanical roller cam, I believe the cam is 284/292 degree adv. duration, gross lift 509/558", rpm range of 2500-6500. My transmission is a B&M Street/Strip TH350, Fab 9 inch rear end with Strange 3rd member; 4.11 gear and posi, 35 splinetrach tech locker. The manifold is an Air Gap with a 750 cfm Mighty Demon.

The car is a 1966 Chevelle. Body is stock with the exception of a 4 inch cowl fiberglass hood. Not sure of the gross weight of car. 3,700 lbs?
