Lower a 1975 dodge

Well its got the totally stock suspension. My friend Wants to lower the front 3 or 4 inches. he said well if i cut a coil out of the spring pack it'll drop it... first i laughed then old him that there's easier ways to do this.(safer) Would anyone know what type of spring i should look for? As well as does anyone sell a lowering kit for this 75 dodge... This is his dads that has been parked in a garage for 17 years. One owner factory 4 speed 4:56 gears true duals. Took the truck off the showroom floor and still has all the paper work and build sheet. ( although he thinks he lost it , we'll give all to him when the trucks done.
