I've got an 85 GMC swb pick-up. I've put a 400 sb motor in it and some chrome wheels and other stuff on it. Looks and runs pretty good. It;s got 295-50 x 15" tires, and with the stock suspension there's just too much wheel well to suit me. I;m on a somewhat limited budget now since I've spent so much on motor, trans and some other things that my wife's very tired of me spending alot of money and time on it. I plan on buying lowering shackles for the rear leaf springs.I was looking at front coil springs for the front, but they're more that I want to spend. Alot of people cut layers off their coils. My question is, About how much will cutting a layer, or two lower the front end and at what point will it require me making other modifications to to it? I'll be looking forward to any and all opions and advice.

I also have a 85 silverado and I used the beltech lowering shackles for the rear. They are good for 1.5 to 2 inches drop in the rear. I then cut 1/2 coil from the front which dropped the front about 3/4 inches. This made my truck sit level and just a little bit lower. Looks very aggresive.

I can tell you anything you need to know about that style of truck. How low were you wanting to go? The shackles will drop the rear 2" and that's about 30 bucks, then figure that usually for every half of a coil you cut off that usually drops the truck an inch. When you're all done... DONT FORGET to get it ALLIGNED <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />
