Are lowering coil springs thicker than stock?

I am asking this because i just bought some eibach 3852.120 1 inch drop springs and they have about 8 coils while the stock springs had about 10 coils and i cant see these springs just dropping the car 1 inch.

Lets just say i wanted to drop these eibach springs 3 inches how much would i cut? Some one told me 1 coil.

Being I don't know what you are working with, I will tell you how mine are.

I have a Mustang II front suspension on my 33 Ford. I took Mustang racing springs that had the same compression as the stock springs but would lower the car 2".

You just don't want to start cutting coils out, as you would loose your ride, you want to take springs that give you the same ride, and lower the car so yes the coils are somewhat bigger on mine. I don't have a clue about yours.
