lowering the rear end on my 1949 chevy pickup

I have a 1949 chevy pickup with a 1969 nova rear end. the rear end is mounted on top of the leaf springs. i would like to lower my rear end 4" but the saddle on the rear end is welded to the axle centering kit. this is just a plate use to center a late model rear end under my 1949 pickup. it move the axle back 1 1/2" according to the Brothers catalog. i think i will have to cut the welds off and put the lowering block in between the saddle and the centering block. if anyone have any suggestion please help.

You can use blocks or shackles.

Two choices, easiest is to redrill spacer block so the pin hole is offset 1 1.1/2" or replace springs with center bolt set back 1 1/2", the cars have the same problem up to '54 with the closed driveshaft.

so can i just remove the centering plate from the saddle on the rear end (welded to it) and put the lowering block in between the centering plate and the saddle. like i said the centerin plate offset the rear end 1 1/2 inches, bu it is welded to the saddle.
