Ls Engine Swap To C10

hi guys,

i might get my hands on a 6.2 with tranny included out of a 2007 and up gmc denali

engine would be going to an 84 chevy c10, also would the stock engine harness fit and work in truck? am also getting the ecm, fuse box, radiator, and electric fans and i would like to know what parts would i need in order to complete the swap...

You need everything engine related. Everything. Accessories too since sbc ones won't fit. There's a lot of threads about lsx swaps if you search.

but would i need fuse box, and stock harness? i can pretty much get everything from the truck that is why am looking for a list of parts i would need from the truck and what i need to buy aftermarket like motor mounts etc...

Would i need the obd2 connection from the truck so i can later tune the engine once its swapped?

Just get a conversion wiring harness. I think Even GM sells 1 as they sell a drop in LS retrofit crate engine. You can do it with an original harness but by the time you get 1, you gotta make it work.. With a conversion kit, you would need an ECU, but you could buy 1 of those new also. Just has to have the right tune programmed

Here read the article. 1972 Chevy Nova LSX Engine Swap - Chevy High Performance Magazine

Gives you an idea of what's involved. They used a kit from a company called "turn key" which included just ahout everything needed. Its a good read so check it out

I have a 67 c10 shortbed with a LQ9 6.0L truck engine and 4l65E trans. I used a speartech harness and stock pcm reprogrammed by speartech. I have a friend whos now done 5 Ls coversions using speartech with absolutely no problems. they are competive with the other companys that do them. Miy harness is drive by wire.
You can give me a call 217-202-8038 Fred I will be glad to give you more info. I used the stock truck wiring which was in good shape and intergrated the fuse block that came with the harness, His instruction are straight forward and simple. Everythingis color coded and you get a life time reprogramming of the PCM in case you want to change shift points, tire sizes ect. John is always available for any questins you may have and he is the one who answers the phone. My friend has many thousand miles on his and I have 2,000 trouble free miles on my truck(finished and started up in May this year)

You can use the harness that came on the truck and save big bucks. Don't need the fuse block but some are underhood and very handy. Most of these harness are installed on engine and trans before they are installed so they come out easy, just a few extra wires need to be cut or relocated. Yes you do need the OBDII connector or you'll never be able to read codes or re-flash the PCM.
