LS1 tach, aftermarket computer

Hey all,
I have a customer who just installed a ls1 and computer form trun-key engine supply. The tach signal is supposed to be a nornmal 5v sq. wane signal.
When we get the tach over 5K, it bounces all over the place. Its a new VDO unit. Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks

Mark
