LS7 build questions.

A little about the motor - Going into a weekend warrior. Red-line is going to be 7000 RPM. Trans is going to be a T56.

Already have the block, rotating assy, and heads. The rest is still in the works.

LS7 New block

4 inch stroke

11.9:1 Compression JE forged pistons
Eagle 4340 crank and H beam rods

Heads

2.200 int. / 1.600 exh. S.S. valves.
Intake Runners - 285cc
Exhaust Port - 106cc
1.8:1 Roller rockers
72cc chambers
Int. Exh.
.1 55 33
.2 117 63
.3 184 105
.4 243 141
.5 289 166
.6 316 183
.7 336 193
.8 318 200

Intake / throttle body
Fast Intake manifold (ported) w/ 102mm throttle body.

Cam / lifters
Comp Cams XFI286R113 w/ solid roller lifters
RPM Range 2400-7000
Duration Int 286 exh 293
@ .050 Int 251 Exh 256

What type of performance should I expect out of this engine? Goal is 600-650 horsepower on pump gas. Will be custom tuned once its together and running.

Don't understand the question. You bought all the parts, did you not have a goal in mind when you did? Dyno test after it's assembled is the only true indicator of how much power it will make.

One thing is missing... Get friendly with a service station that pumps 100+ octane unleaded pump gas.

You will make more real power with out knock or computer crutched retarded time , go faster and it will last longer.

Some Sunoco stations have this (sunoco GT-100+)
Some Delta Sonic stations have this ( Cam 2)

cool rockin daddy - Just seeing if anyone thinks there may be a problem with the setup like getting it to run on pump gas, don't think it'll meet the goals, diff cam.

I've been planning this build for about a year now, Finally committed since I've been back in Iraq. Bought the block earlier, just order the rotating assy and heads. Just making sure the other parts are going to be in line for the goal, not too small of a cam or throttle body's to big causing issues....ect.

Dyno testing is already planned out, going to use the same shop that tuned my LS1 currently in the car (mild compared to this)

F-BIRD'88 - Thanks for the heads up. I think it should be fine on pump gas (have a sunco station down the street from my house if needed), been running the current LS1 w/ 11.5:1 on 93 without problems, not sure if the extra compression will require a higher grade, It'll be put to the test during tuning though.

crowerjunky - shoot me a message with the guys e-mail address. Never hurts to get a second opinion on the cam. Thanks for saying it should easily hit the goal, shop that did the tuning on my LS1 said this motor should easily hit 600hp, and with proper tuning could probably put 600-625 to the tires.

Check with Comp Cams on using those rockers. The 1.8 ratio rockers were primarily made to give stock cams a slight boost, but are not designed to work with the aggressive lobe profiles of aftermarket cams. Also, might want to hang out some in the LS1Tech forums...
