Has anybody every used or built one of these motors? Looking at building one using factory LS7 heads since are factory 12 degree heads since can run factory aluminum heads to go to different class so don't have to try and compete with over 500 cube big blocks making over 1000hp. My 23-degree 362 is pretty competitive in 35" class but 40" class I get outrun by these big blocks. I love my sbc for the weight savings. I know the tricks to get more vacuum as will need 14" vacuum at 1000rpm. By the LSX, you can get a great-sized sbc as they will do 4.250 bore and 4.5 stroke by the factory 12-degree head will flow very close if not better than the aftermarket bbc heads 23-degree heads as GM makes a single-plane carb intake as front cover allowing the use of a Ford distributor. Don't find much for high-domed pistons or high-lift camshafts for the newer motors unless someone knows of somebody doing this.

Was just doing some reading up on the LS motors because I have an idea that I want to swap a LS1/LS2 into a Miata. (I should have at least one more swap left in me before they put me in a box :D ) One thing leads to another and I was looking at the new LSX block and a few articles that have been written.
The LS based engines are light years ahead of the traditional SB and BB
chevies. I have ported several sets of heads for these engines, it's easy
to get these to make big power.
I decided to make the switch myself, I picked up two engines relatively
cheap, a 6.0L iron truck engine a LS2 aluminum corvette engine. I bought
a new set of these L92/LS3 heads from GM for $350. I haven't decided
on compression and camshaft yet, I will be talking to Mr. John at bullet
for the cam. As for ignition I will be running the stock coils with a MSD
"The L76/L92/LS3 cylinder heads are the most advanced small block heads to
date. They use 2.165" (55 mm) intake valves, and 1.59" (40.4 mm) exhaust
valves. For use with 4" and larger bores, they allow for over 600 hp naturally
aspirated. Improved manufacturing efficiency makes these heads cheaper
than the outgoing LS6 heads, and severely undercuts aftermarket heads. The
large valves, however, limit maximum rpm - 6000 in the L76 (with AFM), and
6600 in the LS3 (with hollow stem valves)."
$350 for the set? Are they assembled? How do they compare to the LS7 head and how much are the LS7 heads?
The $350 price is for bare heads.
