I'm building an LT1 on which I will use the GM manifold that permits use of a carb and conventional distributor. Anyone had any experience converting from the TPI and Optispark computer controlled OEM configuration? Assuming stock compression, how difficult will it be to avoid detonation without the knock sensor/ computer-controlled antiknock subsystem?

Thanks for the response. My buildable core is from a post '93. The GM manifold comes with the standard rear-mount distributor hole if you want to go with a standard distributor in place of the front mount Optispark or similar aftermarket type. You also get a plug with the manifold to cap the hole if you stay with the computer controlled front mount ignition.
