Which LT1 head and which bolt pattern. The LT1 head whether the 1970s version or the 1990s version is same as all small blocks for head to block. Intakes are all different old LT1 to newer LT1 and both to Vortec.

The newer LT1's end coolant and oil return passeges do not match with non 1990s LT1 or LT4 blocks without some welding and machining on the head.

Not to mention iron LT1 heads are the same port as vortecs, so no benefits if that's what you were looking for. As far as intake bolt patterns? Totally different. Compare these two gaskets:

Notice one has water passages and the other doesn't. One has exhaust crossovers and the other doesn't. The bolt pattern is also wider on the LT1

Its been done, but its not worth it for all the work and trouble

LT1 to vortec head

THanks for the reply guys;
The reason for ? is I have complete intake,computer,wiring from 1994 trans am.
I'm going to modify for dist, bolt holes and install on 1st gen sbc.
I know 1st gen intake has more holes at angle.
The vortec heads have straight intake holes.
Though it may be better to modify intake holes for vortec than 1st gen heads.

Thanks Bobby
