Lt1 heads on vortec block

I found a deal on a vortec block with lt1 alum. heads, complete rebuilt assembled motor. Will the lt1 heads Work on the vortec block as far as cooling? The guy said he ran the engine on a engine stand for break in..

A buddy told me not to buy it because the lt1 heads wont work on the vortec block because they have differant cooling passages? And he said my water pump and front engine accesories wont work either?

I was going to drop it in my 89 camaro and use the water pump and all the pulleys ect that are on the 350 thats in my camaro.. Is my buddy correct?

This is my first post and i want to thank everyone in advance for any help.. I have been reading this board for several years though and i've learned a lot..

yes he is correct.....what many people don't understand is that the original Small Block Chevy is completely different than the modern LT-1 or LS series engines. Small Block is usually referred to as Gen I, LT-1 as Gen-II, and the LS-series engines make up Gen III-Gen IV. Pretty much the only similarities are that they are Chevy V8's.
