LT1/LT4 question

my buddy has a 94 camaro Z28, and he insists that it had a LT4 police package motor in it that was special ordered from the factory. now, my understanding is that GM didnt introduce the LT4 until 96 or 97. so, how can he have ordered it from the factory in 94? i suggested that maybe it had an LT4 conversion on it, or the guy before him found a wrecked LT4 and put it in. but, he still wont come off the fact that it was specially ordered that way from the factory. maybe im missing something here. can anybody shed some light on this please? thanks.

-Matt

The LT4 wasn`t released until 1996. so no, I don`t think it was ordered that way.

The best way to tell is the LT4 intake is powder coated red. I would say that it is a LT1-LT4 conversion, a true LT4 engine is pretty hard to find. Are you sure its a LT4 or did someone just power coat or paint the LT1 intake red?

If its factory, then it would be an LT-4 engine VIN code, wouldn't it?

*********************
Everything you wanted to know about the 94 Camaro B4C police special :

http://www.9c1.com/brochures/1994/94_b4c.pdf

LT-1 only. The standard Z-28 engine. 275 hp.
If you look through the site, you will see that the LT-4 was NEVER available in the Camaro P.S.

The options data plate: That should tell IF it is a police special it will have that code. and the normal VIN engine code.

Oh, gee, wait,,,,,,,let me go look...... oh golly, got a 94 sitting in the garage... !!!!!

Check for that big alternator and the 150 mph speedo as described.
