Luck strikes again.

Scored a 1989 GMC Jimmy 4X4, auto, slung rod 4.3, body and interior in good shape for $150. Sometimes the gods of luck do strike me.

Deals are still out there..... Takes a little more looking, but they are still there.

I put a 94' Dime back on the road after it sat in the junk yard for 3 years.

2 wheel drive short box, bad 4 cyl/4L60E. Nothing special other than being free.......

Bought a 93' 4.3/4L60E parts truck for $150. The bed and doors where gone. The rest of the sheet metal was bent or rusted. 4 good tires, 102k miles, and dude drove it to my house...........

$85 for scrapping the converter alone!

Took a full 2 weeks to convert the 4cyl to a V-6. Changed mounts, computer, and the entire wiring harness.........In the long run, I'm happy with how it turned out. It has stock 4.10 gears in the rear, and with the deep first gear ratio in the 4L60E, take offs are spirited to say the least. It will even eat second gear and wag its tail if your ridin hard on it...............Dan

I got plans for this one. It pretty much will be a mud play toy. I`ve got a 4.3 in the plans that`ll put out around 300 horses with Vortec heads and a small comp roller cam. A friend of mine gave me a posi rear diff that he had laying around. I like building the 4.3`s, they tach like gangbusters, really quick.
The Jimmy already has dual exhaust and flowmasters on it which will quickly be changed over to turbo mufflers. It was first owned by a woman who never used the 4 wheel drive. When the 2nd owner got it, the factory engine was worn out, a little over 100,000 miles. It developed a knock so his step father installed a crank kit and it slung a rod a week later. He purchased a used engine, it ran 3 days before it too slung a rod. Afterwards he pulled the engine, parked it, and moved 1000 miles away on a job prospect. His new job proved to be good paying with benefits so he stayed, bought a house, got married and had a child. When he would come home he`d stop by here and see me. A week ago he texted me asking how I was, I asked him about the Jimmy and he said "what Jimmy? Oh yeah, I done forgot all about that thing, I`m never gonna do anything with it, I don`t have time, give me a $150 and I`ll hand you the title" He worked on the 4 wheel drive but never got it to work but he also knew it needed new vacuum lines which he never got around to installing. I figure it`ll be late summer before I have it near ready providing things go right (which they never do but one can hope)

Welp we picked it up yestersday. The former owner didn`t tell me he removed the front clip. I`m happy he did since it will make cutting off all the computer wires, adapting the fuel lines over to a carb and installing the engine a snap. I also found where the 4 wheel drive activator cable is. After some studying, we`ve decided we`ll bypass it going to a vacuum switch and install the cable into the cab with a PTO pull and lock handle.
This little trick will open the variety of the transfer case by giving me 2 wheel low. I can shift the transfer case to 4 wheel low and leave the PTO cable in, which will keep the front diff from activating. When I need 4 low I just pull the cable and lock it. The body is straight, not one dent. The black paint is still in good condition as well. We found the rear had all kinds of parts laying back there also, a 700R4 transmission of unknown origin, a steering wheel, instrument cluster and other assorted pieces from a chevy truck. My other friends are amazed I came out so well, and frankly, so am I.
