Post lug bolt pattern and such

Anyone know right off hand what the bolt patern and the backspacing is on an 88 Towncar? I don't understand how to measure the bolt pattern. If I measure it from the center of the bolt it says 4 1/2 and if I measure it from outide of the bolts it measures 4 3/4. Also what is the backspacing? By the way, my rims are 7 inches wide and I plan on going to 8 inch wide rims. Should I change the backspacing?????

5.0 if you have a summit cataloge look in the wheel section and it has a measuring diagram. Most ford cars with 5 lug are 4.5".

Cool thanx. What should I do about backspacing on the back wheels? my factory tire size is 215/70R15, and I am using 235/60R15. Same heighth but about an inch or so wider, and there is about 1 and a half inches between the inside of my tire and the frame. Should I make the rim stick out an inch more? If I did I don't think it would hit the fender. Besides I got air shocks if it is to close. God I feel retarted.
