M22 Rock Crusher Noise

I know that a M22 makes a whining sound in 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears but how loud? Does a M21 make any noise at all? Mine makes a whine in the 3 gears but it is fairly quiet. A guy at work say his M21 makes no noise at all. I won't really know till after the season when I open it up to take a peek.

Am M21 in good condition will not make noise. M22's on the other hand are a different issue due to angle of the gear teeth.

The M20 / M21 transmissions when in good condition are a fairly quiet transmission. If you want to know what a M22 sounds like get the movie 2 lane blacktop. There is a spot in the movie that you get a real good ear shot of a M22.... or you can come to york PA and i'll take you for a ride in my 68 and you can get a first hand ear full!!!! L.O.L.

That being said i have had muncies with mixed gear sets that made all kinds of crazy sounds...... I even owned one in my personal car that was about as loud as a M22 but it really had a different sound, After you get to know what the M22 sounds like..

if it gets too noisy for you, I could take it off your hands.....

or I guess you could insulate your floor better, that works too.

I do remember the movie 2 lane blacktop. But from what I remember that M22 made more noise than mine. Thats what puzzels me if I really do have a Rock Crusher.

With out much to go on i would say there is a problem in the transmission..... maybe a bad bearing or a gear problem
