maaco or garage to rent

im at a cross roads. ready to paint my 67 lincoln. but cant do it in my drive way, my neighbors will make me public enemy #1. so thats out of the question.
any suggestions? dont know where to start as far as renting a garage or if anyone even does that or go with maaco and if i did what steps to take to make sure i get a satisfied outcome. maybe get them to lay it on and i cut and buff it. any suggestions. most the trimming is already off

I have the same problem right now.

I have a large shop but not big enough to paint a full size Chevrolet Van in and my compressor would not be able to keep up so I have been looking for someone to either shoot the van for me or maybe even rent a spray booth for a day.

The costs here in Florida for renting a booth for a day are between $100.00 and $150.00 dollars and they will let you shoot the paint one day and then leave the van in the shop overnight and pick it up the next morning.

Next problem is finding someone who will do the job for me.

Jimbo

If you do all the prep work and bring it to maaco to paint it then it will turn out good. Don't let them do the body work, trim removal, etc... they suck. Maybe have them paint the hood separate too so they can't be lazy and only paint the top. Also expect some overspraythat you'll have to clean up and make sure you get the name of the color in case they miss anything you can touch it up youself.

had macco do a few cars , just do some research on the macco u want to use, some are good some are bad.it all depends if the guy they have spraying the cars actually takes pride in his work or if he just wants to spray the paint on get it done and collect a check at the end of the week

BigDog pretty well summed it up. Had a friend prep a 70 Monte Carlo. Took it to Maco and made sure they understood he was going to color sand and buff it. They shot 4 coats of black urethane on it and he buffed the car and reassembled. It turned out absolutely beautiful. Do make sure your local Maaco is reputable. They are franchises and are not all created equal..... Good luck.

That car looks good from here. How does it look up close? Would you care to mention the price and are you happy with the whole transaction ?

yeah 400 bucks, had to have them respray the drivers door before we would pick up the car, something happened there and the paint was bubbling a lil bit.

they prolly didnt rinse off the car before they sprayed it. but after they fixed no complaints at all. they did a really nice job.

i may have some upclose pictures ill look in my photobucket and see

compatability

40 years ago I had Miracle (Franchised shops, low cost paint jobs) in northern Calif spray my car that I had prepped and spot primed. The primer spotted areas showed thru. Make sure you use a primer that is compatable with products they use.
