Mac Impact Wrench

I acquired a 1/2" Mac impact wrench at a yard sale along with a set of impact sockets.

What is the significance of the numbers 0 to 5 on the forward/reverse slide? I would assume that they refer to torque settings, but what specifically?

I alway's took it as a torque setting, and the slower speeds work great on things that just need a little help. JMO
