machening bolts to studs

I have a block that is in grate shape 10,000 after work. I would like to replace bolts with studs. Do I need to have honed?

I might also replace rods, pistons crank and bearings. It still has the cross hatch marks. Can I proceed or do I need to do to machine shop?

It is recommended that you have the mains align honed if you switch to studs, because force is exerted differently when torquing studs versus bolts and can cause the main caps to distort. It all depends what you are doing with it,daily driver probably doesent need studs,if its a serious performance build, get it align honed. If you are changing pistons & rods and if the weight is going to change 5 or 10 grams per unit you should have it balanced. Was the block plate honed ?? If not,now might be a good time to do that also, this will help to ensure a round hole.
