machine shop recomendations

I live in Tacoma, Wa near Seattle and I am looking for a good, reliable, experianced machine shop to clean, bore, deck, and hone my sbc 350.

I have never been to a machine shop before and I keep hearing over and over that I need to find a good one. Not that anyone would intentionally search out a bad shop, but being inexperianced with machine work I really have no idea where to go. Does anybody have any recommendations on the shop I should go to? Who did your work?

I was about to recommend Machine Shop Tom, but we're not supposed to advertise here, so don't tell anyone I told you about him (he's a member on here). I don't think he lives in your part of the country, but I'm sure if you find a local car club you can ask the guys there about finding a reputable local shop.

I don't like the places that send stuff out... just seems kind of shady. A lot of chain places do that.

I took down every listing I could find, made A LOT of calls, talked to many people, and found exactly what I was looking for. A long established performance machine shop. It was recommended by customers, parts stores and performace auto shops. Can I say the name here? As soon as my work is done, I will bump this thread and let you know how it went.

It's OK to mention the name, just don't post any links to it. Also you need to do a company review on the shop when you have your work done.
