maf sensor bad with out a code?
Hello I have a 1991 olds 3.8 and was wondering if a maf could fail with out a code.........as in working but not like it should

Yes, it is highly possible and has happened to me before. Fortunately, I had a sensor scanner to read how many grams per second the MAF was sensing. I was familiar enough with my engine to know what it should read at idle and at certain RPM ranges.

been there, had that happen
if yuo can pick one up cheap, swap it out and see what happens be sure to pull the battery terminal when you swap it so that the ECU looses its learning, that way the cars not trying to use programming it created using the bad maf

well I got one at a wrecking yard and put it in no change but I did not unplugg the battery.....will do that............I do have a regular electronics oscilloscope I could hook up to it but I wouldnt know what I am lookin at I just heard its supposed to output a square wave
