main bearing
Can 0.020 to 0.010 in main bearings, affect oil pressure.
The engine has 0.020 in now, but was told 0.010 would increase oil pressure? |
Someone told you something really wrong. Changing the bearings by 10 thousands will cause it to either seize up or to knock like crazy, depending which you need and which you actually use. If the crank needs .020 bearings, that is what you need to buy. Take it to a good shop and have them mike the crank and tell you whats up.

I think you mean .001 (one thou) and .002 (two thou)..
Normal bearing clearance is about .0015-.0030 |
Thanks for the fast input. I was thinking the same. is a bearing with 0.020 the thickness? and if so, a 0.010 would let too much oil leak pass / pressure drop?

Your theory is correct...the more clearance that you have, the less pressure.....................

 tks guys.
