Main and bigend bearings

Hi all hope all is well
I have a problem that i,m sure if you lot do not know now one will
I,m from England and own a Jaguar S Type 2.7d my problem is that my main and bigend bearings have failed but the biggest problem for me is that Jaguar do not sell replacement bearings and have told me that i have to buy a new engine
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the bearings made for me?
All the best and take care Marc

that sounds like BS but possible you would need to buy rods or crank with rods mounted. but it does not sound right to me. usally even if the dealer does not sell them someone will. get some measurements and see if you can match them up.

What year Jag and what motor options?

Here is a link that will help identify the engine. I looked and didnt see anyone selling parts but im sure thay are out there.

Ford Duratorq engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Its a ford engine so you should be able to get parts.

But a junk yard replacement may be the best solution. get a low mile motor from an accident.

Over here crank kits ( crank/bearings) are common for that engine.

Clevite/Mahle, King, Federal Mogul all list undersize bearings.

Hi Guys :~) thanks for your help. I managed to buy a engine without the left hand side cylinder head off of ebay for 125 the seller wanted 300. it had an injector problem and melted piston the seller told me there were no knocks or taps and the engine was good. I stripped the engine and found 3 of the main bearings had spun about 90 degrees :~( but the 5 other pistons/conrods and crank were all good but the bigends were just showing copper at about 120 degees inline with the rod. So thats some spairs.
The next step for me is to strip my engine and get the part numbers off of the bearings and go to an engine shop and try to match them up.
I'll let you know how i get on...not sure how long it will take as working on the drive in the cold/snow is a right pain in the back-side. :~)
All the best and take care Marc

Main and big end bearings

Hi all, it's been some time since my last post :~(
Hope someone can help I'm trying to find bearings for my jaguar V6 2.7 diesel. My local engine shop just doesn't want to know.

Measurements for Crankshaft big end journals are 62.98mm exept one which is 62.97mm Conrod bore diameter is 66mm and they are 14.62mm wide

Main bearings journals are all 69.97mm and main bearing bore in block is 75mm and they are 20mm wide
I'm thinking of getting it reground and then Nitrideing then polishing to size.
Hope someone can help as my car has been off the road for so long it seems it will be a classic before i get it going ;~)
Thanks Marc

I've found the Chevrolet small block to be the solution to most of Jaguar's problems.

I just took a look at the ebay posting - and just from the physical appearance, they may be difficult to source from another engine. The ~63mm/2.5" diameter might not be a problem. The shell width will, though. These folks might be able to make up something with enough information - but not inexpensively though: EGGE Machine Company - Parts and Services for Nostalgic Motors

Thanks for your replies :~) I've seen a bearing set on Ebay which is .5mm oversize but they will not tell me what or where they are made and won't supply bearing diameter details until i buy them. They just say that they will fit. :~(

I was poking around and found a .05 set from a Range Rover site that crosses over but they're insanely expensive.

I should of bought a car who's parts were cheap :~( It seems to me that bearings at that price are taking advantage. I'm just hoping that there are bearings out there from another engine that can be matched. :~)
