main and rod bearings

I've done searches on bearings and basically they come up as procedure and not what kind. My question is for a 450-500hp cruise night hot engine what would be a good bearing set to buy? Clevite has P,H, Coated sets pricing from $22 to $110, I don't want to skimp but I'm not building a dedicated drag car either. Then you have Federal Mogel, Speed Pro, etc... So what do you guys use when doing your engines? Thanks for the help

sorry I also forgot are the bearings with the 360 degree oil groove necessary for a street engine?

If you are 'married' to Clevite I would go with the P series on the mains... I seen a 358 late model engine that turned 7,000 over a year's worth of racing with regular P-series bearings and they were perfectly fine and actually went back in the next season's engine. The P series has a higher eccentricity, high crush and good embedibility- which is good since your engine will probably see a wide range of RPM since it is on the street.

For rod bearings I would go with the 'H' series (P series would probably be fine but I like the H's for my rods, especially for a high rpm build, just makes me sleep better)

Otherwise any reputable bearing manufacturers make good stuff- federal mogul, king, ACL, and others.

No, the half grove or full grove type bearings are not necessary but I defenitely would opt for them with the rod bearings.
