Main Seal??

I have a Block out of a '94 Z28 Camaro that has the 1 piece rear main seal.. With the 1 piece and the 2 piece blocks are the main seals the only difference between the two?? Like can I use gaskets from a 2 piece motor on my 1 piece??

gearhead69,

Most of the gaskets for the block will interchange. The heads are a different story. On the newer engines the two bolts that are on either side of the crossover passage are drilled at a different angle as the rest of the bolts so the older gaskets will not work because there isn't enough material to work with. You can use and old intake manifold if you redrill the four holes at the new angle. The other holes line up just fine. Also the end gaskets are left out and you use a 1/4 inch bead of black silicone. I know it sounds "homaidabago" but it works if the parts are very clean.

Good Luck
