making custom oval exhaust. muffler help please.

Well me and my dad want to do something a little challenging, were going to be making some oval exhaust for my firebird. taking 2-2 1/2" pipe cutting it in half then welding flat plate inbetween. ANYWAY what kind of muffler should i be using? or could i possible just fab one up? if so what type of baffles should i use to maximize flow?

motor is a pontiac 455 mild street motor.

I believe SpinTech sells oval tubing, would be a lot easier than making it. Speedway Motors and Shoenfeld headers may also.

I've never seen an oval inlet/outlet muffler, the systems that Spintech has hav a oval to round connector and use regular mufflers.

hey

take a look at a box for a delta style muffler .
like a flowmaster or a thrush .
i just cut a thrush welded muffler apart to make it smaller to fit on my buddys car .
you could cut the end off most delta style mufflers and fab new end plates for your oval set up i really like the thrush welded i push them on everyone .

i like the idea, diffrent is cool and don't buy a kit fab it up yourself thats what hot rodding is about .
