Making it legal....
I am in northern california. IS it worth going to arizona or wyoming for mechanics certification?

Does anyone have good experiances from the west coast.
I would like to stay a quick plane trip away, So the east cost/mid-west is 0outta the question.

Any Certifed Mechanics that can give input please do.-Justin

Im goin to UTI in arizona, i think its worth it. If i get into the porche or volvo manufaturers training they'll garantee me a job and pay 50K a year right out of school. My brother went to wyotech and said he hated it, everyone there is a hick or a cowboy and theres just nothing out there.

If I was still a young man <img src="graemlins/pain.gif" border="0" alt="[pain]" /> and I wanted to turn wrenches for a living, I would seek a dealer training program (factory schools) or check out my local community college for an automotive program and walk away with an Associates Degree.

Both methods will still allow you to earn a living and you haven't the high cost of a vocational school.

I dont plan on it for a living. just wanted to become a well rounded person.

I had seriously planned on attending wyotech. i like hics and nothingness.

What other schools are in the western state area?
how aboiut a web site for uti?

this is starting to get somewhere, good...-justin

I went to a community college here. They are ASE certified and in two years I had all my state certifications. Also it cost less than $1,200 year.

I was takin some classes in my community college also and thought about goin that route. But what it really comes down to is with an AA from a community college, you cant get 50K a year right off. That might not be that much money from your perspective...but its a lot for a 21 year old (by the time i get back from UTI). Its definately more than 25-30K id get from my AA. Plus the fact that UTI looks better because its recognized by the whole country for bein the best automotive training school out there....and I want to get out on my own for a while.

Something else to consider, if you go with a dealer or community college where you also work, the cost of school may be tax deductible.
